Friday 30-11-01

Everybody better be at the bench next Saturday. I've had a emormous amount of
requests for a sketches section and I need your sketches in order to start one. So,
please, bring all your photos, sketches, etc to the writers bench so that I can take it
home and scan, etc. Bring it all and we'll work out a way of returning it back to you. ie.
another bench or something.

The message board system has changed a bit. You must now sign up in order to use
the board. This is just a precautionary measure to prevent others using your name/tag.
It will also, hopefully, decrease the number of anonymous entries.

I have uploaded some more pics to the archive, so stop this useless reading and
check them out :)

While I was in Plett and Knysna I happened to come across some pieces, so off I went
to go get some pics. There are only eight (that I know of) and some of them are not
half bad.

Will try and get some pics tomorrow and with any luck they will be uploaded by friday
morning.

I have also added a mIRC section which will try and help you set it up on your machine.
Once setup, you can spend many hours chatting to various writers, hiphop goers and me
(when I'm online that is). It's really great being able to talk to other writers in real time.
Oh, and if any of you have ICQ, you can get my ICQ number from the ICQ pager
section.

Oh, and as always, some more crew have been edited or added to the list.

I'm back.

A few changes have been made to the crew section (it's forever changing).

I'll try and put up an update sometime tomorrow and maybe another on Friday.

Hope I'll be seeing all of you at the writer's bench next Sat. You can bring all your photos
then so that I can scan them. If you do bring, please place them in some sort of
container with your details so that I can return them (unless you want to donate them to
me :)

Going to Plett tomorrow so there won't be any updates for a while. Will try and make it for the writers bench. Just cause there won't be any updates it doesn't mean you should

Exams are officially over!!!

One more crew has been add to the site. Check it out.

There will be a writers bench on the 8th of December (Saturday) at 12 noon. It will be by the Rondebosch Canal between Rondebosch and Rosebank Station (by the supa solo
piece). If I'm in Cape Town, I'll see you there. Don't bring markers, cans, etc. for safety
reasons (we don't want a mass writers arrest happening).

It seems that some of you people that use the message board have not got the right
date on your machines. This has resulted in unsorted messages. Don't worry about
changing the date on your machine I have fixed that. I will sort out the existing
messages when I have more time. In the mean time, enjoy (you messages will most likely appear somewhere at the bottom and work their way up).

Just what the Cape Town Graf Archive needed, a message board. That's right, there is
now a message board where you can leave, well, messages. Feel free to use it for
shouts outs, comments, party info or warnings to rival crews. Please try and check it PG
and please don't write useless shit.

Big update. I've have just finished uploading 47 megs of zip files. You can now download
each page in a zip rather than manually selecting each picture and going through the
whole save process. Only completed pages are available for download because the
incomplete pages are likely to be come complete soon. Other stuff will be available for
download sometime soon next year (backgrounds, etc.).

I have had many requests to put up a Jhb section, a Durban section and a sketch
section. I'm very keen on all of the above and will try and get them running in the very
near future. I appreciate all of your offer to supply me with material but I don't want it
email (imagine you start getting 20, 1+ meg emails, it's not cool). If you do have any
pics, sketches, etc. let me know and we can organise a meeting. If you live outside of
Cape Town, you can post me photos, sketches, stiffy, CDs, etc. and if you really want it
back I can post it to you. Once again, thanks for your support.

The crew section has also been updated. I'm getting a lot of response from Jhb, so you
guys here in CT have done a good of spreading the word. I think I'll have to reorganise
the crew section according to city, as well as alphabetically. Will do that later though.

A few more pics have been added to the other section of the graf archive. Go check
them out, they are brilliant.

A friend of mine down from the Waldorf School in Constantia let me know about this hip
hop thing that they are havingl. They will be featuring DJ Hamma and several b-boy
appearances. Writers, there will be designated writing areas so if you do come, please
don't write on the toilets, walls, etc. People of all ages are welcome which does mean that
no alcohol will be sold on the premises. There is, however, a bar literally 100m away, so if
you need to have a drink that is where you can go.

I finally got those pieces there by Centry City, you know, the ones that were sprayed by
TVA, YMB and WOTS. I found that there were actually more then just the three that
were featured on Overspray.

The archive has officially reached the over 700 mark and getting bigger. I'm planning a
trip down the M5 to get the pieces there. I should do that in the next week or two (don't
take my word for it, though).

Oh, and a error has been fixed in the crew section.

Got some more crew info from Crem so go check it out. I have also noted some
locations he thinks I should go check out and hopefully I'll have some pics in the next
week or two.

Feel free to send me some comments/locations via the all new feedback form. You can
still send messages to me via the ICQ pager or email. Also, if you know of any hip hop
related functions, etc. send me a message and I'll put it up.

Major site update. The menu has been modified to make to simple, better, faster. You
now don't have to go through the info page to get to the crews list, etc.

A feedback form has also been added. This will allow you to send me comments and/or
location of graf that I should try and get hold of in my spare time.

Have tested it and it still seems abit dodgy. Will sort it out within the next week or two.
The hit counter has been disabled due to the fact that it opens a new windows and starts playing some cheesy midi song. Will try and get a better counter in the near future.

Looks like I'm getting ahead of myself, I've gotten more pics before I could get the
others up. Went down to Diep River to meet Sam (evidently not as lazy as I thought) to
take more pics. We took a couple of pics in and around Steurhof and Diep River. We then went to take pics at Clovelly (not as nice as I thought it was going to be). While we were
there we also made a trip down to Glencairn to take, you guessed it, more pics. The
achive has reached a total of 695 pics, looking forward to the grand 1000.

By the way, Good Luck to all of you writing exams soon.

Man, Thursday was a great day for a walk, and that's exactly what I did. I got some pics
from Rondebosch, Newlands and a lot from Claremont. With that I also got some pics
from Kenilworth. Thanks Asher for not being as lazy as Sam.

I added a few more crews to the list. If something is wrong or I missed a crew member
please let me know.

I might get some more pics this coming week. Will try to get down to Clovell, Glen Cairn,
etc.

Went to Newlands on Sunday and spent most of the day there. According to some
people TVA was supposed to do a production there but they never arrived (I ain't mad
though, mabye disappointed). Nevertheless I got a good few Kilometers in, caught some
sun, meet a few other writers and, most impotantly, got some more photos.

I managed to get photos in Newlands (always changing), Rondebosch and Rosebank.
Along with that is one more photo to my scanned section.

Got stopped by some cops on Rosebank station but they understood my intentions of walking down the lines and let me be. Be sure to check out all the faces of the cops that were friendly to me in the all new "friendly cops" section.

Well, while America is busy cleaning up the rumble left over by the World Trade Centres I have finally got a new update. It's exactly what I typed on Saturday only this time I
actually uploaded the pics.

If any banners pop up, please just close them. They are not there because I want them there but because I have run out of free space with my service provider and have had to resort to desperate measures.

Look forward to another update in about two week or so.

Illdef has officially disband, but it seems that several of it's crew members are starting a new crew. All I know is that this crew will comprise of Dek3, Mosk4 and Kesix.

The archive has just got bigger, only this time not with my photos. I have added a
scanned photo section which will, from now on, have scanned pictures and other pictures
which I did not take myself. If you have any photos you think I should scan, email me
and we can organise something for after my finals. Please note that all such photos will be tagged with the site address.

It seems that my site has almost reached it's first 1000 hits. When it does I would really
appreciate if somebody sent me a screen shot. The lucky person to
send me the screenshot will get a BIG mention on the site and a chance to shoutout to
the masses.

Let it be know to the public that Sect one is no longer writing for illdef. Why? Here is a
direct quote "because of the admitance of certain wannabee toys into the crew and
because school is for kids graffiti is for writers".

Sorry about the slow rate of updates but I will get back into updating regularly once my
finals are over.

Just putting in this entry to inform you that for the next month or so I will not be updating the site with photos as I am in the final stages of matric. That means I am trying to use
my time for studing rather than taking photos. After my finals then I will continue to
update the site with lots of pics. Just cause I won't be updating much doesn't mean that
you shouldn't come visit the site as much as you can :)

Was at The Jam last night. It was rocking. The place was full and just about everyone
was having a good time. The MCs and DJs were wicked. If you weren't there, you really
missed out. I will upload them sometime before Monday.

Wow, it's been a while. No matter, I'm back and, as usual, with more photos.

Went on Saturday to Cape Town Station and took some more train photos. Most of them are new, but there is one where it came out better than the one that was already here.
You can find that on the 5th page.

Planning to go to the Hip-hop Indaba to take photos, but I still waiting for a comfirmation.
Otherwise I'll go just to have a good time. If anyone recognises me, let me know your

Tuesday 31-07-01

Went on an excursion on Sunday and along the way there happened to be some graf. Of
course I took some photos with my trusty graf-cam (tm) and now I've uploaded the
product. This now gives us a total of 510 photos.

The photo taken in Pollsmoor is actually in the Pollsmoor prision and not just in the
Pollsmoor suburb.

Seeing since this entry is so short, let explain what coming to this site in the future. First I
am planning to add a section inwhich writers, people in general, can leave their comments,
remarks, greets, etc. I am also planning to add a section where anyone can add an entry
of any parties they think Cape Town needs to know about.

Went on a mission to get photos today. Came back with a few. Got a single photo from
Fairways (what? it's close to Ottery), a single from Bishopscourt and a few from
RaapeKraal (close to Lakeside).

I hope all of you know of the African Hip-Hop Indaba. If not, here are some details.

On Sunday I went to Plumstead and Steurhof (in Plumstead) to get (you guessed it)
more photos. Had some trouble from the cops, but I suppose that's what you get when
you walk on the tracks :)

I realised I made a mistake on the site. I didn't link to the Claremont pictures. Fixed that

Took some more photos of the trains yesterday.
Then I walk down the train line from Rondebosch to Claremont.
Then went around the CBD to Gardens.

Well all this walking has resulted in a total of 433 photos.

Walk down the train line from Obs to Rondebosch last Saturday and took 56 photos.
Several sections have been updated making the archive a total of 312 photos.

I saw a Graf documentary called Overspray on e.t.v last night and from that I got
some info about various Graf Artists. What I got I have put into the Graf Artists Section
of my website. Also, because of the documentary, I have decided to become more
active in the production of this site. That means that I will do my best to update it a
much as I can which means a mission or two every weekend.

People, please tell your friend about this site. The better know this site is the more likely it will be that it continues to grow.

If you are an Artist and you would like for me to document a piece you or are going to
produced, please email me and we can arrange something.

The archive has increased in size again. I told you it would. I have just added a Rosebank, Rondebosch and Train section. The Rosebank and Train section are a bit small have some good pieces none the less.

Things are in the works at the moment that will benefit the Cape Town Graf Archive. I will explain in detail when the time comes, if anything at all.

The "Cape Town Graf Archive" is slowly taking shape. Hopefully the pages that are up
are functioning properly. The archive should be 100% operational for IE4+ users and
probably for Netscape 4+ users. If you are using a browser other than those you are
likely going to experience some problems/errors. The Feedback Form is still not
operational nor is the voting form. As you might notice the Graf Artists sections is still
blank but give me some more time and it will be full of interesting info about various Graf
Artists.

Now instead of me naming all the things wrong with this site let me name all the good
things. For one, the archive now contains a grand total of 110 photos (not bad for 2
weeks work, hey?). I have taken 101 photos of Graf pieces in the Observatory area
alone. I am planning a mission down the train lines (weather permitting) this weekend to
get more pics, so those should be up by next week Friday.

This is the first entry to the "Cape Town Graf Archive". Here's to many more in the
future.

Updates will most likely occur on a weekly/fortnightly basis (Thank Telkom for that). With
any luck, each update will include more pictures into the Graf Archive and a few
comments or info about artists/writers into the Graf Artists section.
